Café Culture Who we are Café Culture is a series of events which aim to generate discussion, debate and a convivial atmosphere. Held in central Newcastle upon Tyne, they seek to provide a space for people to think, share ideas and to have a lively and inclusive discussion. The events are a collaboration between the British Science Association North East England branch, The Institute for Public Policy Research North, Northumbria University, Policy, Ethics and Life Sciences Research Centre and Newcastle Philosophy Society. What we do Each talk involves an interesting speaker, sometimes but not always high profile, who introduces their talk in an accessible and challenging way. We then open to the floor for comment and debate. We want to go beyond a rigid question-and-answer format, to allow broad participation. Our overall aim is to create an atmosphere where people can talk about the issues they feel passionately about and to open our minds to new ideas. Our funders This series of events is funded by a grant from Sir James Knott Trust and are also supported by Urban Café, Dance City and the Royal Society of Chemistry |
